Field Training Events (FTE)
IN-PERSON FIELD TRAINING EVENTS ARE SUSPENDED DUE TO COVID-19
The field training events (FTE) are designed for Grassroots entry referees. The FTE’s are part of the certification process. Making the transition from the classroom (computer keyboard) to the field is why the FTE’s were created.
Starting for the 2020-2021 seasonal year, FTE’s are offered with two (2) options: Virtual and In-person. The optional in-person group FTE is usually sponsored by a local soccer club and FLSRC provides specially trained instructors and administrators who follow an approved curriculum to provide each new referee with the necessary skills and knowledge needed for their very first game. For 2020-2021 in-person attendance is not mandatory.
The virtual FTE is included in the 2020-2021 Grassroots entry course. The Grassroots entry course includes all of the curriculum taught at the in-person FTE.
The in-person group FTE’s that clubs sponsor are FREE. Referees must bring their own water, referee equipment (if available), and should wear their complete uniform (if available). If the new referee uniform has not arrived yet, wear comfortable shirt, shorts, shoes and socks. It can be HOT!
